ORBIS and PENTION Explore Synergies in European Security Innovation

On 15 October 2026, ORBIS held a synergy meeting with its Horizon Europe sister project PENTION, providing an opportunity to exchange insights, learn more about each other’s activities and explore potential areas of collaboration.

PENTION focuses on combating the production and trafficking of synthetic drugs. It aims to develop an advanced vapour detection solution combining Differential Mobility Analysis (DMA) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) to identify synthetic drugs and their precursors.

The solution is being developed in two versions: a stationary unit for warehouses and cargo storage areas, and a van-mounted mobile unit for use in open areas and clandestine production zones.

Although ORBIS and PENTION address different security challenges, the meeting offered an opportunity to identify potential complementarities between their technological approaches and discuss areas of common interest.
